Get Ready to Read!

The Ready to Read Resource Center, a project of the Anchorage Public Library, is a statewide resource for anyone who works with infants and toddlers anywhere in Alaska.

The Center's mission is to promote early literacy development throughout Alaska by providing books and other resources to children birth to age three and their caregivers. To achieve this mission, the Center loans four types of reading kits to parents and caregivers as well as to organizations that serve infants and toddlers, such as (but not limited to):

  • Child care centers
  • Licensed home child care providers
  • Early care & education agencies
  • Libraries
  • Health clinics
  • Faith-based organizations

With over 250 reading kits containing nearly 6,000 items, the Ready to Read Resource Center hopes to engage all of Alaska's youngest children with high quality, age-appropriate books. Ready to Read Resource Center brochure (3 MB)
